L’équipe de rêve: "There is no age limit to be an entrepreneur"

Supporting, encouraging and training the next generation of fashion designers is what LaSalle College has been doing since 1973 by training future generations of designers and industry professionals year after year. But this mission recently took a rather different turn, because this time, the next generation was only… 12 years old!

Meet Mia Lapointe, a passionate, creative, determined and ambitious young woman who has been the general manager, sole seamstress and founder of La Petite Couturière for the past two years. Her company, which specializes in the production of handmade cotton aprons for children, sells its beautiful products through a 100% transactional website.

With entrepreneurship at the heart of its educational mission, the College could not pass up the opportunity to cheer on emerging entrepreneurs to pursue their dreams. The web serie L'équipe de rêve (The Dream Team) was therefore filmed right here at LaSalle College!

During the "Meet the Professional" segment, Mia, surrounded by the hundreds of sewing machines that make up our Techno-Espace, met with the Director of our International School of Fashion, Arts and Design, François Bousquet, who gave her some valuable advice on how to take her business further. He also took this opportunity to gift her a sketchbook, a notebook, and even... her very own business card! Mia said she was very grateful to have, at her young age, such a valuable network of contacts.

In addition to this contribution from LaSalle College, Mia received a brand new high-end sewing machine and a $4000 scholarship from IG Wealth Management.

A dream team to make your dream come true

L’équipe de rêve, a web series presented on TOU.TV and offered by IG Wealth Management, is made up of Isabelle Racicot, a well-known TV and radio host in Québec, and Anne Marcotte, "one of the greatest entrepreneurs and mentors in Québec".

Surrounded by various professionals in the business world, these two women mobilize to advise and guide entrepreneurs, whether they are young enthusiasts, immigrants or first nations. Their goal? To allow their entrepreneurial dream to become a reality and grow so that their business shines in their community.
