Starting in the fall of 2020, LaSalle College is reinventing the way it teaches with a completely redesigned offer.

Different methods of instruction are now offered so that you can get started on your journey in our new reality. This way, you can enjoy the full LaSalle College experience from the comfort of your own home!

Fine-tuned and redesigned, the new program offer focuses on students' overall experience, and offers flexible teaching, personalized support and coaching, online services, a sense of community, and courses at the cutting-edge of the industry.

Distance learning combining self-study at your own pace (asynchronous) and guided sessions with a live tutor (synchronous).

Take your classes 100% online using two different learning tools:

  • Interactive independent learning material (asynchronous)
  • Virtual live guided sessions with your tutor and other learners (synchronous)

Using the Microsoft Teams Classes platform, you’ll be able to access the material as often as you like and meet your tutor in a virtual classroom on a weekly basis.

At any time, you can contact your tutor by email and participate in discussion groups. This learning method is flexible and adapts to your family and work obligations.

  • Keep up your pace by attending two weekly evening support sessions held on the same days each week.

Who is it for?

These short AEC courses are designed for employees, job seekers, parents or employees on parental leave who:

  • Want to upgrade their skills and get a better position or even retrain for a different career.
  • Do not want to travel to downtown Montréal.
  • Live out of town, in another province, or even another country (in a time zone that allows them to attend the weekly evening support sessions).

Training provided entirely in distance mode, with a teacher and in real time (synchronous). Two attendances per semester may be required on campus for a maximum of 15 business days.

With the Microsoft Teams Classes platform, you’ll be able to attend classes in real time. You can discuss with your teacher and fellow students, view presentation documents and do practical exercises on your own or with a team.

Real-time remote learning is a great option for those who:

  • Do not wish to travel to downtown Montréal.
  • Wish to develop their skills in order to obtain a higher position or for professional reconversion (employees, job seekers, parents, employees on parental leave).
  • Live out of town, in another province, or even another country (in a time zone that will allow them to follow a set schedule).
  • Are interested in taking a class in real time and on a set schedule, in the comfort of their own home, at a coffee shop or even at work.

Training that combines live virtual classes (synchronous) and on-campus courses (on-site).

Some courses will be offered in class at the Montréal or Laval campus, and others will be offered online, but in real time and on a set schedule.

With the Microsoft Teams Classes platform, you’ll be able to discuss with your teacher and fellow students, view presentation documents and do practical exercises on your own or with a team.

The entire group or just part of it may also be online live. You may be required to attend some on-campus exams at scheduled times.

  • Have live discussions online or in person with your teacher and fellow students.

Who is it for?

This method of instruction is ideal for students who:

  • Are enrolled in technical programs that require their presence on campus for certain classes. For more theoretical courses, students can avoid having to travel by taking online classes. For the more technical courses, they will have access to our specialized on-campus equipment and facilities.
  • Love interacting with their teachers and fellow students but want to minimize travel.
  • Want to experience student life and participate in extracurricular activities.

All your classes will be on the Montréal or Laval campus (on-site) and on a set schedule.

  • Earn a diploma (DEP, AEC or DEC) recognized by the Ministère de l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur (MEES).
  • Take all your classes on campus, on a set schedule.
  • Take advantage of our modern facilities and cutting-edge equipment.
  • Attend classes given by passionate teachers with experience in the industry.
  • Have face-to-face discussions with your teacher and fellow students.
  • Enjoy the exciting student life and extracurricular activities on campus.

Who is it for?

This method of instruction is ideal for students who:

  • Are enrolled in technical programs that require them to be on campus on a regular basis; students will thus have access to specialized equipment and facilities.
  • Love interacting with their teachers and fellow students.
  • Want to experience student life and participate in extracurricular activities.

Training combining on-campus (on-site) and/or live remote (synchronous) courses, as well as practical workplace courses.

With the Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) option, some classes will be held on the Montréal or Laval campus, while practical courses will be offered by an employer related to your field of study.

Students earn a competitive wage for the hours worked for the employer.

From the first year of their program, the selected students will share their time between LaSalle College and the employer.

Our Glossary

Learner: individual who’s actively engaged in the process of acquiring or improving their knowledge and implementing it.
Class: learning and school work session.
Classroom: room in which the students attend their class.
Live virtual class: online learning and school work session which is held in real time on the Adobe Connect platform.
Course: education provided in a given field of study on a set schedule.
Synchronous or live: a program offered in real time, as the teacher is giving it to the class (as opposed to asynchronous learning).
Hybrid or blended mode: on campus and online
Teacher: the individual whose job is to teach.
Set schedule: at a set time and date.
Interactive independent learning material: online learning tutorial on Adobe Connect.
Adobe Connect: Adobe Systems’ online training and interactive content creation software.
Program: study program in various fields of study taught at a school.
Asynchronous or without a set schedule: with no set time or date.
Session: time that is dedicated to a school activity and that can be repeated.
Live virtual support sessions: virtual meetings at scheduled times and dates, facilitated by a tutor to support and guide learners in their training program.
Virtual session: virtual meeting facilitated by a tutor to support and guide learners in their training program.
On-campus class: in-person class to be taken on campus and not online.
Tutors: individuals whose role is to host sessions, and guide, advise and evaluate the learners in their training program.
