Nathaniel Dezan

Studying hair and makeup at LaSalle College gave me basic knowledge in the field of beauty. From there, I ventured out to accumulate more knowledge because, as Socrates mentions, “The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.”

I believe the architecture of the human face defines a person’s physical beauty. As an artist, I get to intensify individual looks by emphasizing their features, giving them the perfect complexion, shapes, and texture of hair and skin.

My first experience was in a hair salon, Studio MW, where some of the best hairstylists in Montréal are located. Years later, I began working at MAC cosmetics, where I was challenged each day with different face and skin types, and a variety of client demands. I then joined an agency in Montréal where I worked for fashion magazines. My work was published in Lou Lou, Nightlife, Homme, Fashion, Elle Québec, Clin d’oeil, and more.

After years of working in Montréal, I decided to venture out into the world to further my learning. As part of some of the biggest hairstylists’ teams for fashion weeks across the globe, I had the opportunity to work on shows for Prada, Versace, Dior, Valentino, Dolce and Gabbana, Calvin Klein, Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Hugo Boss, and many others! I also helped create the looks for models and celebrities like Kylie and Kendall Jenner, Gigi and Bella Hadid, Lady Gaga, and many more.

After traveling the world and working on fashion weeks, I was signed by an agency in Los Angeles known as Opus Beauty. There, I now work as a hairstylist, makeup artist, and male groomer. I work with celebrities and models for magazines, television, red carpet events and more. I continue to push hard each day to achieve my goal of being a renowned hairstylist and makeup artist.

The only advice I can give is to never give up on your goals and be true to yourself. Always stay focused and have determination, no matter how hard it gets. Never say no to a job, and give your 150%. Assist as many hairstylists or makeup artists as possible; learn from their tricks, their knowledge and their passion for the art. Accumulate as much knowledge as you possibly can, and never think you know it all. Do not be afraid of rejection—it will help you grow and improve.
