Thomas Tait, a 2008 graduate of the LaSalle College Fashion Design program in Montreal, now living in London, is the winner in the first edition of the LVMH (Louis Vuitton and Moët Hennessy) prize. Awarded on May 28th in Paris, the prize includes a scholarship in the amount of 300,000 Euros as well as personalized assistance in the development of his business by none other than the venerable LVMH fashion house.

The LVMH Prize is open to designers under the age of forty who have at least two men’s or women’s collections under their belt. The jury consisted of seven fashion directors of labels belonging to LVMH, including Marc Jacobs and Karl Lagerfeld!

This accomplishment was not an easy feat for 26-year-old Tait. One among 1,221 applicants last February, the Canadian-born stylist managed to stand out in the eyes of a committee of 40 experts before being chosen to be among the 10 finalists who had to present their collections in a private showroom at LVMH headquarters.

Congratulations Thomas !
