This autumn, a culinary competition worthy of its own reality show had discerning gourmets holding their breath in anticipation.
LaSalle College hosted the fourth edition of the Peru Gourmet competition from September 11 to October 2.
This culinary contest was organized by Montreal’s Peruvian Canadian Chamber of Commerce, with support from LaSalle College. It introduced the rich flavors of Peruvian cuisine to students who were invited to showcase their creativity and culinary techniques.
More than 30 students participated in the Peru Gourmet Canada 2017 contest, putting their skills and knowledge into practice to prepare Peruvian dishes.
At each stage, the students had to present their creations to a jury at LaSalle College’s Le Fuchsia restaurant.
The members of this carefully-selected jury were:
Raphaël Robert, a student in the Professional Cooking DEP program, represented LaSalle College well, earning a solid second place in the competition.
First place went to Ru Zhang, a student from Pearson School of Culinary Arts. Andreea Corciu, from the same institution, took home third place.
The prize for the big winner is a week-long culinary trip to Peru, valued at $6000.
Congratulations to the three winners, as well as all the participants!
