Online student experience: discover all the College's initiatives!

LaSalle College is proud to have been able to offer all its students 100% remote learning that allowed them to complete their Winter 2020 semester on time.

This was the perfect opportunity to reinvent ourselves and offer students services and activities in virtual mode. Here is an overview of the services offered online that ensure our students have an optimal student experience.

Summer back-to-school offered 100% online

To welcome new students for the Summer semester, "live" information sessions were held a few days before the beginning of the online courses to make sure everyone was aware of all the student services available for them and how virtual classrooms work.

It was also a great opportunity for students to meet their administrative team and ask any questions they might have had.

Festive Virtual Party to mark Summer back-to-school

To kick off the Summer semester in style, a special radio show was broadcast live and online to welcome all students.

Behind the decks, Phil Branch, popular radio host, took the lead in our back-to-school party. Music, animation and interactive questions were on the menu to entertain our students!

Several activities are also planned throughout the summer to offer our students an experience that meets their expectations.

Virtual Buddies for New Students

Starting a new school program can bring its own challenges and questions. We are proud to offer all our new students the opportunity to be paired with a fellow student, a "buddy", a few days before classes begin.

Buddies are there to answer questions and help new students integrate and get ready to start their semester. They are also available during the first few weeks of classes to help them become familiar with their new environment.

Our buddies really have LaSalle College tattooed on their hearts!

Online Group Sessions and Psychosocial Support

The College cares about the well-being of its student community. This is why our Social Intervention Counsellor offers all students the opportunity to participate in his online group support sessions, in French and English, Monday to Friday.

Three days a week, "open discussion" sessions are offered to allow students to voice their concerns and ask any questions they may have.

Two days a week, group workshops address different topics such as stress management, having a positive attitude and developing strategies to stay motivated throughout the semester.

A series of videos on a variety of topics that provide tips for everyday life is also available for all students.

Career Services Virtual Workshops

The Career Services team is available to help LaSalle College students and alumni, and it offers services that are 100% accessible remotely.

Virtual workshops, in English and in French, are offered every Tuesday and Thursday by Career Services agent, Gabriel Cifuentes, to accompany students on their career journey. He offers:

• Help in looking for an internship or a job
• Assistance in writing their Curriculum Vitae and Cover Letter
• Tips to prepare them for an online interview
• And more!

The Career Services also offers individual coaching sessions that allow our students to deepen their knowledge of certain subjects and ask any questions they may have.

Videos covering these various topics are also available to students to support them in their job search.

Special Edition of the News Express

Student Services has set up a new version of the News Express in virtual newspaper format. Each month, students can consult a series of articles that are very helpful in the pursuit of their program while studying remotely.

On the menu: inspiring student portraits, tips for managing stress and staying motivated, a variety of tips for finding a job or an internship and much more!
