LaSalle College was a presenting partner of the 5th edition of the Festival Montréal Joue, which took place from February 25th to March 12th. This event brings together more than 60,000 festival-goers every year to celebrate the city’s playful culture through some 200 activities. The festival is aimed at all curious game players and game enthusiasts, be it for video games, board games or indie games!

LaSalle College took part in the opening event, Jeu Indie de Montréal, held at the Société des arts technologiques (SAT) on Saturday, February 25th, between 12:00 and midnight. This activity, presented by the Guild of video game developers of Quebec showcased the games by independent developers which were presented to the public.

At our kiosk, The Intergalactic Trust Simulator game, developed by Inter-Dec College’s VFX and Game Design School alumni, attracted many video game enthusiasts as well as participants in the Indie Games Rally. They had the chance to discuss directly with the designers who spent more than twelve hours per week on this project during the winter 2016 semester. Their game has attracted the attention of developers present in search of new talent and could earn them a contract of employment.

Also, alumn Hugo Fréchette and Admissions Advisor Marie-Emmanuelle Lapeyre gave an interview to EspressoJobs, a job search web site specializing in VFX animation and video games (click here to read the interview).

The Montreal Indie games also featured a series of conferences throughout the day including a lecture by Karl Tremblay, singer of Les Cowboys Fringants and co-owner of Triple Boris Independent Studio.
