This year, at the 5th Peru Gourmet culinary contest, students from LaSalle College dominated the podium.
In the end, it was Mayara Poletti who won the grand prize, a one-week gourmet trip to Peru, valued at $7,000.
This culinary contest was organized by Montréal’s Peruvian Canadian Chamber of Commerce, with support from LaSalle College. It introduced the rich flavours of Peruvian cuisine to students who were invited to showcase their creativity and culinary techniques.
For initial selection, participants had to cook one of three dishes at home, either a traditional causa, ceviche norteño or fish escabeche.
The two other stages took place at the Le Fuchsia teaching restaurant, where the participants went head to head and presented their creations to a jury.
Last year, it was Ru Zhang, a student at the Pearson School of Culinary Arts, who won first place in the Peru Gourmet Contest.
Congratulations to the other two finalists, Mirosly Carolina Farfan Patino and Araya Pijaksanaporn, who are also LaSalle College students, and to all the participants!
