Once again this year, LaSalle College did its reputation proud in the industry, taking center stage at the Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards. No fewer than five former students were nominated at these prestigious fashion awards.

Taking place this past April 20 at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto, the event saw a parade of the biggest names in Canadian fashion. The work of several former LaSalle College students was highlighted at the chic gala.

Graduate Marie Saint Pierre won the coveted Womenswear Designer of the Year Award. UNTTLD, founded by graduate Simon Bélanger, among others, was also nominated in this category.

Mackage, lead by former students Elisa Dahan and Eran Elfassy, was in the running for the Outerwear Brand of the Year Award. Jessy Colucci, who graduated in May 2017, was competing for the Simons Fashion Design Student Award (which was won last year by graduate Xiaoyi Li).

Graduate Annie Horth, Céline Dion’s stylist, accepted the International Style Icon Award on her behalf.

Montreal was well represented during the 5th annual CAFA event. François Bousquet, Director of the International School of Fashion, Arts and Design at LaSalle College points out that “Creativity is an integral part of life in Montréal and at the International School of Fashion, Arts and Design. We are pleased to see this once again this year.”

LaSalle College’s delegation brought together several players on Montréal’s creativity scene: businessman Alexandre Taillefer, the director of the Grappe métropolitaine de la mode Debbie Zakaid, Fashion Marketing graduate and influencer Lisa Homsy, Gabrielle Lacasse from the blog Dentelle+Fleurs as well as Lolitta Dandoy from the blog Fashion is Everywhere.
