With university enrollment approaching, it is sometimes difficult to make an informed decision when faced with the various options available to you.

To help better guide you in your final choice, the College's school guidance counsellor, Louise Pinsonneault, is available via virtual consultation to answer all your questions related to your future.

To find out more about the school guidance service, we spoke with Fashion Marketing students Nazgol Bolouri and Daphnée Alarie and asked them to share their reasons for making an appointment with our counsellor.

1. KNOW THE ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS AND PREREQUISITES FOR A PARTICULAR PROGRAM

Nazgol: "I'm considering continuing my studies at university, so I wanted to find out more about the different universities that have the program of my choice. I needed to know the prerequisites to be accepted, i.e. to make sure that I had taken the required courses and had the right R-score."

2. TAKE SKILL, INTEREST AND APTITUDE TESTS

Daphnée: "I wanted to find out which university programs were aligned with my interests, so the guidance counsellor gave me tests to get to know myself better and to find out which programs were most compatible with my personality and skills.

3. BE INFORMED OF THE DIFFERENT UNIVERSITY PROGRAMS IN THE SAME FIELD

Nazgol: "In case I don’t get accepted in my program of choice, I wanted to know my options and other study programs in the same field."

4. ASSISTANCE IN APPLYING TO UNIVERSITY

Daphnée: "To assist me, the guidance counsellor suggested that I contact her in the winter of 2021 to help me complete my university registration."

5. LEARN HOW TO TAKE CERTAIN COURSES BEYOND MY OWN PROGRAM WITHIN THE COLLEGE

Nazgol: "In order to be accepted into the university program of my choice, I wanted to find out if it was possible to take courses outside my current program at no extra cost to ensure that I would be accepted. For example, I wanted to add the Calculus 1 course, which is not in the Fashion Marketing program, to my course schedule.”

You can make an appointment for an one-on-one consultation with, the counsellor on Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Simply fill out this form and choose the time you would like to make an appointment.
