Practical, Paid Training

Starting in fall 2020, LaSalle College students in Hotel Management Techniques will be able to register for the Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) – Remunerated option.

This means they can complete part of their training in the field and get paid for doing it.

Nearly 50% of the learning time will take place through professional immersion. A LaSalle College teacher and a hotel supervisor will combine their efforts to provide practical and comprehensive training for the students.

Many renowned hotels in Greater Montréal and the region support this option and will offer positions within their establishments. This means that students may divide their learning time between the Montréal campus and the Fairmont, Sofitel or InterContinental, for example.

LaSalle College trains its students so that they can easily and effectively enter the job market and distinguish themselves from the very start. Thanks to this option, they will have the chance to benefit from practical training starting from the first year of their DEC training and they will be able to gain the skills taught more rapidly, all while earning a competitive salary.

LaSalle College is now the only college in Montréal to offer the remunerated WIL option.

Career Accelerator in Hospitality

When graduates earn their DEC diploma, they will have already completed three years of work experience. Considering their increased employability, the likelihood that they will get a supervisory or management position straight out of college is increased tenfold.

In addition, the structure of the DEC program in Hotel Management Techniques itself gives its graduates a considerable asset. Since it shares a common core with the Tourism Techniques and Food Service Management programs, the program provides students with very versatile skills.
