MTLàTABLE 2019: Nine Successful Days for La Classe
For the second year in a row, LaSalle College’s restaurant-school La Classe had the honor of being among the 150 restaurants that participated in MTLàTABLE, a Tourism Montreal initiative that took place from November 1 to 13.
With its four-course table d’hôte for just $23 and its fresh and varied menu, La Classe was filled to capacity every evening. This high traffic allowed students in the Food Service Management and Cooking programs to put everything they’ve learned into practice in an environment much like those in Montreal’s best restaurants.
This year’s menu impressed quite a few people. More than half of the dishes were made with products from Quebec, including a velouté made with Hochelaga-Maisonneuve mushrooms and a halibut steak from Gaspésie, as well as the Chocolate Hazelnut Pear dessert made with Cacao Barry chocolate.
“Delicious! The MTLàTABLE menu was simply spectacular!” commented Ayhello on the OpenTable reservation site after enjoying a good meal at La Classe.
La Classe is particularly proud of something new this year: winning the Caco Barry challenge. This challenge was issued by famous chocolatier Cacao Barry to the 150 participating restaurants. Only 10 restaurants won the challenge, including La Classe for its Chocolate Hazelnut Pear dessert.
“Pear, hazelnuts and chocolate. Best dessert ever. Something you’d find at a really great patisserie,” said Diane, who clearly enjoyed this ultra-creative dessert.
After recently receiving the Diner’s Choice Award from OpenTable, La Classe is once again receiving accolades.
