On April 16, the International School of Business and Technology of LaSalle College held its annual CEO event. This year, the formula was quite different since, due to circumstances related to COVID-19, the event was held online.

More than 75 people participated in this virtual event, including students and teachers. It was an exceptional experience for the graduates of the Business Management program (DEC). Such an activity demonstrated the speed of adaptation and the digital transformation of LaSalle College in the development of its students' learning.

This competition put the spotlight on entrepreneurship, one of the three educational pillars of LaSalle College. Its objective was to crown the sustained efforts of graduates in the preparation of their projects and the development of their creative, innovative and entrepreneurial skills. Students were supervised by their teachers on several aspects, including marketing, finance, accounting and sales.

In order to win one of the three scholarships, the students had to convince the jury members from the industry. The six finalist teams competed against each other by presenting their respective business projects.

After deliberation, the members of the Jury finally chose the three winning teams:

1. The first prize: $1,000:

  • Project: Peace of Mind Technologies
  • Team members: Vanessa Olivieri, Shafia Ballas, Kiana Gomes, Luis Abraham Holguin and Karina Osuna Castro
  • Project summary: A bracelet with a chip that can be used to track seniors. This would make it possible to react quickly in the event of problems (health, safety, etc.). A technological tool that would calm the peace of mind of adults and their elderly parents.

2. The second prize: $600 + The CEO 2020 Favourite Award of $250

  • Project: Middle Man
  • Team members: Alessandro Cerone and David Garcia
  • Project summary: An application that brings together different services (hairdresser, garage, etc.) and allows you to view availability and make an appointment in just a few clicks. An application that saves a lot of time, especially when there is an urgent need for an appointment.

3. The third prize: $400

  • Project: Project: Mutrition
    Team members:
Adrian Suarez, Navpreet Kaur, Tatiana Bernal, Valeria Bernal
Project summary: Supplements made from fungi and insects to provide a product that requires less space to raise, less water to feed and faster rearing than a normal cattle or chicken farm, for example. Considering that the world's population is increasing every year, it is essential to change our eating habits.

Many thanks to the organizing committee, their coach Slim Barhoumi and all the teachers involved in this great event!
