Questions and Answers - Red Zone: New measures as of October 8

To help you better understand the concrete impact of the new health measures that will come into effect on October 8, here is a "questions and answers" document.

If you have more questions, please write to us at experience@lasallecollege.com and we will add the most frequently asked questions to this section.

How long will the new government health measures be in effect?

These measures are designed to minimize the spread of COVID-19. They will be in effect as of October 8 until further notice. We will be closely monitoring the situation and will keep you informed if the measures change.

Are there still courses on campus?

The measures announced affect students who are enrolled in a college program (DEC and AEC). The vast majority of courses in these programs currently offered on campus will be transferred online, except for certain type C2 courses and a large majority of type C3 courses that must exceptionally continue on campus.

As a reminder, "C1", "C2" or "C3" are written before the course name on your schedule.

Please note that courses in the DEP, ASP and certificate programs remain on campus.

Please note that as of Thursday, October 8, for the vast majority of students, courses will be offered by distance learning only, unless otherwise advised by your school administration or teachers.

The College will do everything possible to ensure that your training can continue and that you can acquire the skills you have planned for your program despite the pandemic.

Do I need to download the COVID Alert mobile application?

Yes, we strongly recommend that you download and register for the Government of Canada's COVID Alert tracking application on your mobile device.

Here are the 3 things that COVID Alert does:

  • It sends you a notification if you have been in contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19.
  • It directs you to relevant information related to what you should do after receiving the exposure notification.
  • It informs other users of the application when they have been in contact with someone who has reported a positive COVID-19 test result in the application, anonymously and without sharing personal information.

This application is secure, it does not collect any personal information except your IP address, which is deleted 15 days later. It works with Bluetooth technology, does not use your GPS or cellular/wifi data (only when downloading the application).

In order for it to work to its potential and be effective in the community, it needs to be used by a maximum number of people. That's why we strongly encourage you to do so, a small gesture that can make a big difference.

Is it possible to come to the College on a day when I don't have classes scheduled on campus?

Yes, but it is recommended that you limit your presence on campus.

Only if you do not have a scheduled class, you must write a note to your student coordinator and let him/her know:

  • day of your visit to the campus
  • date
  • time
This information will be added to our daily attendance record.

Are the common areas always accessible? (ex.: The Student Plaza on the 6th floor, the cafeteria, etc.).

The College does not intend to be a social or gathering place.

The Quebec government has insisted that presence on campus must be limited to the essentials in the coming weeks. We strongly recommend that you respect the maximum of one person per table and maintain a physical distance of 2 meters, at all times.

Is it mandatory to wear a mask?

Wearing a mask or face cover is mandatory at LaSalle College. We strongly recommend that you wear it at all times, including in classrooms. It is possible to remove it only when eating for a short period of time.

You must also continue to respect the physical distance of 2 meters and frequent hand washing.

Is the documentation center on the 4th floor still open?

The loan and return counter is still available. Opening hours are Tuesday to Thursday, from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. For more information, visit the following website: https://centredoc.clasalle.com

However, individual workspaces are no longer accessible at this time.

Can I still make purchases at CL.IP?
