Daniela Caputo, teacher at LaSalle College's Event Planning (for both College Lasalle and iLasalle) since 2009, has been nominated to the Hall of Fame of Event Industry, created by CMEExpo (Canadian Meetings and Events Expo).

She was inducted as the 2020 Industry Mentor; this category celebrates a planner or supplier who through his or her expertise, professional influence, or academic position has provided others with opportunity, inspiration, or ability to pursue excellence.

After more than 10 years teaching at LaSalle College, she candidly describes herself as a "proud mother' everytime her students graduate.

Describe a typical day in your professional life?

Hosting an event can be loads of fun. The last thing you need is to get caught up in the details which gets the better of you, thus, creating stress before the event begins. You know this atmosphere will rub off onto your guests. This is why you would call the Professionals at Montreal Event Planner. I am here to facilitate things for you.

Can you explain your career path?

In short, 16 years ago, I was let go of my corporate job as a Marketing Manager. I found myself at a crossroad and decided to take a chance in going on my own organizing events for people that needed assistance. Plus, I was offered a part-time position at the College (teaching a newly implemented course in Event Planning) and I have not looked back since. I love both!

What are the qualities necessary to succeed in your field?

You need to have a lot of patience and flexibility. You also need to focus on teamwork and to learn how to understand the needs of your clients.

Anything you would like to say that would be inspiring to our next generation?

Don’t be afraid and just go for it. If you want it bad enough or even if it is hard, don’t give up and keep pouncing through.
