This year, several graduates from the International School of Fashion, Arts and Design stepped on stage at the 6th annual Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards (CAFA), which took place on May 30 in Toronto.

Among the biggest names on the list, it was the talented duo Fecal Matter who won the Digital Fashion Influencer of the Year Award.

No stranger to the CAFA awards, Mackage took home the Outerwear Brand of the Year Award. In 2015, the duo was actually nominated for the Accessory Designer of the Year Award and for the Outerwear Brand of the Year Award in 2018.

It should also be mentioned that UNTTLD was once again nominated for the Womenswear Designer of the Year Award, the same category they were nominated in, in 2018. UNTTLD did however take home the Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent in 2016.

Other categories included, among others, the Menswear Designer of the Year, the Model of the Year, the Stylist of the Year and the Makeup Artist of the Year.

We would also like to give a special shout out to Thierry-Maxime Loriot, who won the Vanguard Award. Currently the curator for the “Thierry Mugler: Couturissime” exhibition, in partnership with LaSalle College, Thierry-Maxime has made a name for himself internationally with his two Jean-Paul Gaultier exhibitions.

LaSalle College is extremely proud to have several members of the CAFA Nominating Committee among its staff members:

  • Francois Bousquet, Director of the International School of Fashion, Arts and Design
  • Andrew McNally, Fashion Marketing teacher
  • Milan Tanedjikov, Fashion Design teacher
  • Lolitta Dandoy, Fashion Design teacher

The glamour-filled evening was hosted by Jessi Cruickshank, a beloved Canadian actress. A whole host of celebrities were also spotted at the event, including the duo Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren, Sophie Theallet, Vanessa Williams, Coco Rochas, Karine Vanasse, Vanessa Pilon, as well as Montreal native, Charlotte Cardin, who put on a stunning performance.

CAFA was created to celebrate outstanding achievement and emerging talent in the Canadian fashion industry by honouring established and emerging designers, stylists, influencers, models, and beauty artists each and every year.
