AEC - Early Childhood Education | JEE.0Q | Early Childhood Education

The Early Childhood Education Program (AEC) is intended to train childcare educators to work with children from 0 to 12 years old. During their training, students will learn how to meet a child’s basic, psychological, as well as educational needs.

Students will also learn to establish a partnership with parents and partners in the field to understand the importance of discussing the necessary intervention with a child.  The program will allow students to develop and further their professional knowledge, to be qualified under the Règlement sur les garderies and the Règlement sur les centres de la petite enfance. This program allows students to find work right after they graduate.

Since 2012, aspiring child care workers can gain a better understanding of the profession by collaborating to the success of the LaSalle des petits Daycare. They can observe and learn from the daycare’s work environment and, as a result, be better prepared for the job market.

Graduates of the Attestation of College Studies (AEC) in Early Childhood Education Techniques will be able to use their skills in the childcare sector. This training, combined with three years of experience, will enable them to exercise their profession in early childhood educational environments in accordance with the Educational Childcare Act and its governing regulations.

By the end of this program, graduates will be able to apply their knowledge and skills in various work environments:

  • Childcare centers
  • Early years centers
  • School day care
  • Coordinating offices
  • Home childcare services
  • Drop-in day care facilities

As part of thei internship requirement, students might be asked to prove that their basic immunization is up-to-date: diphtheria, polio, tetanus, rubella, mumps and measles. Vaccines against hepatitis B and the cold may also be required. Students must be in good health.

Important note: Students will need to provide proof that they are eligible for their internships. A request for police file verification will be necessary. This request will be made by the College.
