This past February 28 to March 2, about 50 students from the LaSalle College’s Fashion Design and Fashion Marketing programs dove right into the heart of New York’s fashion industry.

For three busy days, they were able to meet numerous professionals in a field they feel passionately about. Tours of Ralph Lauren, LaForce Public Relations, Calvin Klein Denim and Danijo Jewelry made the students fully aware of the scale of the work done behind a brand.

They were also able to visit the offices of WGSN, an international trend forecasting agency. It’s not every day that students get a chance to talk with the “cool hunting” experts!

The students also got a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of retailers’ and designers’ window displays on the famous 5th Avenue, including Louis Vuitton, Tiffany and Bergdorf Goodman, through a passionate guided tour given by a market entry specialist.

This trip was also the perfect opportunity to wander through the Metropolitan Museum of Arts on a specialized “Fashion in Arts” tour.

With one discovery after another on a very busy schedule, this custom-designed trip, planned by teachers Lili Desrochers and Yolande Nesseth, was a big hit among the students.
