UNTTLD: National finalist at the prestigious Mercedes-Benz StartUp contest

On Thursday, August 13th, the Montréal semi-finals of the Mercedes-Benz StartUp contest was held on the South Shore of Montréal. Following the interviews that took place the night before, the five designers were invited to present their designs on the Mercedes-Benz main stage. The winner of this semi-final will win the opportunity to participate at the contest’s grand finale, which will take place in Toronto at the World MasterCard Fashion Week next October. 

The five Montréal finalists are:

• Di Carlo Couture
• Pedram Karimi
• Leinad Beaudet
• WRKDEPT
• UNTTLD 

Following the fashion show which was presented to important media and key players in the fashion industry, the jury selected the winner of this semi-final: UNTTLD. 

Next step 

At the 2015 edition of the World MasterCard Fashion Week in Toronto, UNTTLD will present their collection on the runway along with Toronto and Calgary’s semi-finalists. The jury will therefore have the difficult task to determine who will be awarded the 2015 grand prize which includes: 

• An intensive year of mentoring by the members of the jury;
• An article in FASHION Magazine;
• A solo fashion show at the World MasterCard Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2016 in March 2016;
• A bursary of $30,000. 

UNTTLD, is the collaboration of two Montréal designers: José Manuel St-Jacques and Simon Bélanger, the latter, an alumni of the Fashion Design program at LaSalle College. UNTTLD was also a mentor during the latest edition of the Signature fashion show, an annual event celebrating the hard work accomplished by the Fashion Design graduates of LaSalle College Montréal who presented their creations to over 4000 spectators.
