Rendez-vous Canada : A major tourism event in Montreal

May 12, 2016

Bringing together over 1,000 sellers and 500 influential travel industry buyers from 28 countries, Rendez-vous Canada was an opportunity for these buyers to get to know Canadian tourist companies and discover newly available products and services.

This event was a unique opportunity for nearly 50 students from the International School of Hotel Management & Tourism to get involved as volunteers.

The volunteers were mainly in charge of reception, an important role that had a direct impact on guests and delegates. They were able to:

  • Greet, guide and inform delegates about the various shuttle services upon their arrival at the airport or train station;
  • Provide tourist information in strategic reception locations;
  • Greet, direct and provide information to delegates on the event’s schedule: the time of various activities, their locations, the shuttles, and any other requests;
  • Oversee crowd management during official Rendez-vous Canada events (Welcome to Canada Reception and Québec Night).

The LaSalle College students also organized the big Volunteer Thank-You night. This event took place at the Jean-Paul-Morin Hall at LaSalle College, and provided an opportunity for Rendez-vous Canada volunteers to get together and celebrate the event’s success.
