Special Care Counselling

The goal of this program is to train people intervene appropriately with a range of clients having difficulties adapting or fitting-in socially. 

Special care counselling technicians help people solve their personal and social problems. This is accomplished in multidisciplinary teams in close collaboration with various other participants such as teachers, learning specialists, psychologists, directors of educational institutions and occupational therapists. 

This program fosters a solid personal
and technical training that targets, among
other things, personal and interpersonal
development, an understanding of human
difficulties and the social environment,
and the development of autonomy
and initiative.

Employment Prospects

Upon completion of the program, graduates will be able to apply their knowledge and skills in the position of special care counsellor in various work environments:

Admission Criteria

  • Meet the Attestation of Collegial Studies (AEC) admission criteria as set by the ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport du Québec.

IMMUNIZATION

During the first semester at the college, students must prove that their basic immunization is up-to-date: diphtheria, poliomyelitis, tetanus, rubella, mumps and measles. Vaccines against hepatitis B and the cold are also required.

Important note: Students will need to provide proof that they are eligible for their internships. A request for police file verification will be necessary. This request will be made by the College.
